Stone Setting, The Basics with Jessica Noble
3 Day Workshop 12-5pm
A 3 day intensive course covering basic stone setting techniques. Those new to stone setting or those looking for a reminder on basic skills will be taught to make a bezel setting, tube setting and basket setting. Students will be guided in the appropriate mounts and fixings to turn their setting in to a finished piece of jewellery. More experienced students will be encouraged to create a design that uses a more experimental or creative approach to setting and could think about incorporating usual shapes or cuts of stone*.
The workshop includes materials, silver and gemstones. *You are welcome to bring your own stones, but please discuss this with the tutor before the course to make sure the stones will be suitable for the projects. *
Class numbers are small (up to 5) so the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, as well as giving you lots of individual help and support from the tutor and good access to tools and equipment.
What will I need to bring?
With classes being in a professional workshop environment, things can get a little bit messy so we suggest that you bring an apron, wear old clothes and closed toe shoes. If you have long hair - bring a hairband! It might also help to bring a notebook, pen/pencils and a container or small tool box to keep your work in.
We look forward to seeing you there!
